This garment has been cut, sewn, and finished personally by Oliver in Paris. Each jacket is accompanied by a cotton garment bag for storage.
The yarn dyed indigo cotton is woven in France on old industrial looms in Normandy.
The jacket is a square cut workwear style piece, using flat-felled seams throughout with 2 big pockets at the hem of the jacket and one interior chest pocket.
All buttons are french vintage and all backing buttons are antique shell (utilised on the pocket buttons for extra support at this stress point) these are hand shanked in french silk thread.
The buttonholes are also sewn by hand with slightly thicker French soie perlée. The collar has also been closed by hand giving a softer finish to the neckline. All reinforcement is done with handwoven cotton, no fusing or glue products are used in the piece, offering a more gracious way for the garment to age.
Features large side entry pockets at the waist, and an internal left breast pocket with visible top-stitch.
Expertly crafted, with flat felled seams, and finished with hand-sewn button-holes complete with vintage buttons. Each piece comes with a swatch of fabric that can be used for continued repair and upkeep of the garment.
Made by hand in France by Oliver Church. Care instructions: hand wash, cold, with care.
Due to the nature of the fabric, slight surface imperfections may be visible. This is not considered a fault, but a rather a testament to the fabrics longevity.
- Oliver, who is originally from Auckland, worked at Garbstore in London and Casey Casey in Paris before launching his own brand, Singular Garments, in 2020. His designs — mostly shirts and jackets — lean towards the practical and durable and his clothes are designed to last a lifetime.
- Each element of Oliver's clothes is made by his own hand, from cutting the fabric to hand-sewing the buttonholes. Due to the nature of his production methods quantities are extremely limited and everything is made to order.
